Platelet-Rich Plasma for Hair Loss
PRP for Hair Loss
Reverse hair loss and regain your confidence.
Affecting both men and women, hair loss can significantly impact your confidence. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are an effective non-surgical solution to halt or reverse hair loss. Plasma is a substance found in the blood that contains platelets, which contain growth factors that promote hair growth.
This regenerative procedure uses these growth factors from your blood’s plasma to encourage new natural hair growth.
Appointment Expectations:
A platelet-rich plasma (PRP) session is an in-office treatment that utilizes platelets from your blood to stimulate hair growth while amplifying your scalp’s natural repair system.
This is how it works:
Preparation: Our expert will draw your blood during a Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) session. We will then spin the blood to extract plasma.
Session: Our expert injects the plasma into areas on the scalp affected by hair loss, usually about 15 to 20 injections per PRP session.
Results: natural-looking hair and confidence restoration

PRP is used to halt or reverse common baldness. It naturally stimulates hair follicles to grow hair.

Platelet-rich plasma offers an additional way to stimulate hair growth, especially in people who cannot use other forms of treatment such as hair transplant or finasteride. It is also useful in the treatment of crown thinning where a hair transplant may not be appropriate.

PRP doesn’t deliver results immediately, so you shouldn’t expect to see a full head of hair overnight. You’ll likely need three monthly sessions followed by an appointment four to six months later, and then yearly maintenance sessions after that. Patients continue to experience hair growth long after the series of injections are performed.

Yes. See “What should I do after my treatment?” for specific instructions.
-
It works best where there is existing thinning hair.
-
You may have some very temporary soreness and swelling, but many patients experience no discomfort.
-
It depends on the area. The doctor will determine this at the time of the treatment.
-
There is some inconvenience in that you need to have your blood drawn and there may be some temporary swelling in the treated area. Platelet-rich plasma seems to be extremely safe since we are using your own serum, but it is not successful in growing hair in all cases.

Unfortunately, some patients are not good candidates for PRP. If you have any of the following conditions, we recommend that you do not undergo PRP until the condition is resolved:
• Severe anemia
• Some types of alopecia
• Low platelet count
• Abnormal platelet function
• Active systemic infection
• Active cancer
-
• Drink plenty of fluids after the treatment.
• Avoid any strenuous activities such as working out or physically demanding tasks.
• Do not take anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil, Motrin, or Aleve for at least 5 days as these can interfere with the healing process.
• Attend all follow-up visits we recommend. Do not skip appointments or wait longer than recommended, as this can make future treatments less effective.
• If recommended, continue serums and oral medications for hair growth

The risks of the procedure are minimal and can certainly be managed. You may notice a brief period of inflammation, leading to a pink, tender scalp that lasts for a few hours. Rarely, do patients experience swelling, which will mainly be noticeable in the forehead and around the eye area. This swelling usually starts the next day (when it occurs) and takes only a day or two to clear up.

Let us know if you take any medications that affect your blood. No other preparation is necessary.
